Good Friday

Father -

We morn today for the martyrs.

In Kenya; in Syria; in Iraq; in Egypt and Libya.

We morn.

Lord -

It hasn’t changed in 2000 years. It never changes.

The world and people never change.

But You know that. You told us it would be so.

We morn.

Father -

Why are You so hated?

Dear Jesus – why are You so hated?

Why is the source of light and love so hated?

I understand – You have explained it to me – but then I don’t understand.

There is no objectivity in anything.

But nihilism? – there is plenty of that.

Father -

On this day the world killed light and love – they murdered it.

The world chose darkness and hate instead. ????????

But I love You Lord.

May I show it in my obedience to You commands.

May I show it in my faithfulness.

May I show it in my attitude and actions.

I choose light and love. I choose Your holiness.

I choose You.

Father -

The devil is near – he is stalking us.

I morn for the martyrs -

but I exalt in victory in Jesus.

Come Lord Jesus.

Amen and amen.

Prayer Against Fascism

Dear Lord -

We thought fascism was defeated as an ideology but that was a hollow dream.

In our hearts we knew it was – but we hoped.

But here it is again raising its ugly head everywhere.

And of course, Your people are in the cross-hairs.

The fascists are the agents of the devil and they do his work – and they are doing it well.

Father -

Protect Your people from this scourge.

Defend us from the aggression of the devil.

Defeat the fascists.

Lord -

Holiness is our desire. We resolve to be holy as You are holy.

This is our choice.

May we all remain faithful to our calling in Jesus.

Father -

We beg for Grace.

Empower us; inspirit us; fortify us; en-strengthen us.

May our faith grow more and more.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Prayer for the Lost

Father -

I live in a world full of clueless people.

The answers are there for whomever cares to look.

But no one looks. Instead, people are content to make their own way and the result is this big mess called the 21st century.

And anyone with sense is now called an extremist.

And so the knowledge is pushed farther to the margins and foolishness reigns.

And there seems to be nothing I can do about it. I just have to hold on and endure the collapse of common sense and the rise of anarchy.

I model decency, but the only thing people seem interested in is getting drunk, fornication and getting one up over the next man.

Hatred is everywhere.

Lord – I pray somehow that the blind will see.

Lord – I pray somehow that the madness will end.

But – I am not optimistic for have You not told us that Men love darkness rather than light?

Father -

What do I do?

Do I stop preaching? Do I stop teaching?

Do I disengage from humanity and find a bunker in which to hide in the remote woods?

Do I just give up on humanity?

Lord -

Give me strength to patiently endure.

Empower me and all of Your people to maintain our integrity in the midst of the collapse of civilization and the onslaught of anarchy and decay.

You have not given up on Your children.

Empower us with Your Spirit so we may love as You love and behave as Jesus would in the midst of all this.

Father -

I lift up to You the persecuted.

I lift up to You the Church.

I lift up to You our ministry and mission.

Save us all.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Grace

Father -

Please accept my love and admiration this morning.

Please do for me what I cannot do for myself.

I plea for grace.

Lord -

I have learned that I cannot do it in my own strength – that is, navigate my way through life.

There is a part of me that still wants to believe that if I was just smarter, stronger and more determined, I would be able to hold everything together and I would arrive at my destination and achieve my life goals under my own power and on my timeline – and on my own terms.

Life has taught me otherwise.

Life has taught me that You are in control and that I would be wise to put my trust and faith in You Рfor Your are really the one who will bring me to my destination. You have defined my life goals for me and I will only achieve them through the power that comes from You.

Life has taught me that I need Grace. Life has taught me that I need You – Father.

You are my God.

Dear Father -

I am feeling a bit empty – I need Grace.

I am feeling a bit puzzled – I need Grace.

I am feeling a bit incapable – I need Grace.

I am feeling a bit weak – I need Grace.

Father – I plead for Grace.

Father -

Do for me what I cannot do for myself.

I look trustingly to You.

I choose to live in Victory – guide me through the minefield and give my efforts success.

Protect me from evil forces – only You can do it.

Protect me from negative forces – prosper the work of my hand.

Father -

Please accept my love and admiration this morning. Make me like You.

Father – hear my prayer for I make it on Jesus name.

Amen

Praise God

Dear Friends:

Let us all take a moment away from our busy lives and praise God.

Father -

We praise You for You magnificence.

We praise you for the amazing cosmos You have conceived and birthed.

We praise You for our being and the prospects that lie ahead in eternity.

We are speechless and awestruck.

Dear Jesus -

We praise You for Your great love.

We praise You for Your wisdom – deep unfathomable.

We praise You for the way You have brought all of this into existence – who can understand everything You have conceived and made.

We are speechless and awestruck.

Holy Spirit -

We praise You for Your Holy Nature and Character – who can attain to Your righteousness.

We praise You for the Grace You give.

We praise You for the forgiveness You extend.

We are speechless and awestruck.

Lord -

Accept our love, praise, gratitude, admiration and worship this day.

Words fail us – we are awestruck.

Praise YHWH.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen
